4 reasons why you should consider transitioning to tech

reasons to transition to tech

You’ve heard about the tech industry and the saying that “the future is tech”. You might have even considered switching careers to one in tech but perhaps you’re not convinced yet or you’re worried you might have to learn some technical skill like coding and design.

In this article, I’ll be showing you 4 good reasons to transition to the tech industry.

The career path to choose from in tech are massive

In tech, there are different career paths that can leverage your existing skills if you don’t want to start from the beginning. Not every career in tech requires a form of coding or design skill. You can be a software developer or UI/UX designer and you could also be a digital marketer, content marketer, Scrum Master, product manager, technical writer, business developer, content creator, content writer, name it. They are many options to choose from that don’t exactly require coding skills if you’re worried about learning how to code.

Having this many options to choose from makes transitioning to tech a great option, in addition to the fact that the future is tech. Industries are going to be leveraging different technologies to scale up. It will never end.

More flexibility

There is more flexibility in the way employees work when it comes to tech. There is the option of working remotely or in a hybrid arrangement (sometimes remote, sometimes onsite). This is one of my favorite reasons for being in tech. However you work doesn’t impact the work you do because most of what you do (depending on the tech career), can be done virtually and meetings can be helps virtually as well.

You don’t need a degree in IT to become, or work as an IT professional

A degree is not necessary to transition to tech. All that matters is that you do a good job. How can people know you do a good job? Through your experiences, portfolio and/or achievements.

If you want to become a software developer, you don’t need to go get a degree for that. You could learn it online or join coding bootcamps that will help you with the knowledge and skills to create a portfolio of work that you can show to anyone interested in hiring you. It’s the same thing with marketing and almost any other career in tech.

Although a degree isn’t necessary for all tech careers, some careers in tech might require certification. Examples are Scrum Master certification and project management certifications. Most of which can be gotten between 3 to 12 months.

A degree isn’t necessarily to transition into tech, however, if you’d like to go to university for a degree, you can do so as well.

The pay is good

This point is the most obvious reason to transition to tech but I wouldn’t make it my only reason to.

Everyone wants a good pay, everyone wants to earn more money. A career in tech makes it possible to do so.

The entry level jobs in tech pay averagely and as you progress in your career, you get to earn comfortable 6 figure salaries depending on the tech career path you choose.
